David Smithers
Project Architect
Project Architect at TJD, Inc.
Background
I have come to Portland because of my life long enjoyment of the Pacific Northwest and my interest in the work being done here in Portland. After working for 20 years in Florida doing Multi-Family, Commercial, Medical, and Institutional architecture I recently spent 8 years in Seoul, South Korea. I was working for an A/E firm retained by the Corps of Engineers Far East Division to design a wide variety of building types.. The main project I worked on was the design and construction of US Army Garrison (USAG) Humphreys. As one of many professional design firms, we designed a city capable of supporting a workday population of 60,000 people. I was the design architect and/or project architect for over 50 buildings. My demeanor is professional and enthusiastic. I really enjoy the full practice of architecture. It is exciting to begin with many possible solutions and refine the design so it meets the project expectations. My qualifications and experience will be an immediate asset for your firm. Because of my experience I can also fulfill a variety of roles within multiple project teams which allows you greater team staffing flexibility in the future. Please also know that I have been working from home in the USA for the past 2 years running project teams back in the Seoul office. I can be of help, even during these difficult times. I hope to hear from you, David W. Smithers, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, MArch, BAES
