Background
Lam Vuong began practicing architecture in the Washington DC metro area after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Professional Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is experienced in a variety of project types including K-12, Higher Ed, single and multi-family residential, and commercial/retail. Projects in which he has played a significant role include a mixed-use/residential high rise in the Pike and Rose development in Rockville, Maryland, an Art/IMM Building at the College of New Jersey, and new classroom and dormitory buildings on the campus of The Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton, Virginia. Since 2007, Lam has been working with the Washington Architectural Foundation as a volunteer to develop STEM enrichment programs for local DC, VA, and MD students. Notable ventures include a stage set designed for a Boys and Girls Club performance at the Kennedy Center, an annual Architecture Summer Camp at the District Architecture Center, and a collaboration with the Girl Scouts of America at the International Science and Engineering Festival. Other community outreach activities include designing/building a skateboard park for the Masonry Institute’s It Makes a Village Masonry Competition, and designing/building sculptures at CANstruction/DC, winning Best Use of Labels and Best in Show on 2 separate occasions. In 2015, he was awarded the John “Wieb” Wiebenson Award for Architecture in the Public Interest at the annual Washington Architectural Foundation’s Fall Design Fete. In addition to architectural licensure in DC and VA, he is a LEED Accredited Professional, an active member of the American Institute of Architects, an NCARB certificate holder, and an ICC certified plan reviewer.
