PROJECT ARCHITECT

Portland, OR, USA Full Time
Compensation: $80,000 to $110,000 Annually

Wright Architecture is seeking a self-motivated, well-organized, amiable and creative individual with strong graphic and verbal communication skills for a position as Project Architect. Ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 years of proven architectural experience including at least 2 years as designer, PM or PA on high-rise multi-family affordable housing developments to join our small but dedicated team. You would perform the typical duties of a Project Architect and collaborate with other Project Managers and the Principal on high-rise mass timber office and affordable multiple family housing projects. Work samples should communicate excellence and enthusiasm to illustrate this.

RESPOSIBILITES TO INCLUDE:

  • Coordination and effective communication with clients, engineers and consultants as required for the successful completion of all phases of design.
  • Act as the key technical lead in; preparing scope of work, schedules, document quality control, design, detailing, life-safety compliance, and plan and manage design team efforts to effectively to ensure deadlines and budgets are meet.
  • Provide feasibility studies, zoning and building code research and manage the preparation of site investigation reports.
  • Lead the project by respectfully interacting/ negotiating with planning and building departments. Use the building code to develop architectural plans by providing unique interpretations and fine points of departure that advance the practice of architecture.
  • Understand and adhere to the project’s contract requirements. Provide attention to detail at areas of higher risk or deemed critical for the success of the project.
  • Demonstrate firm wide leadership by mentoring more junior staff and teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to convey ideas and personal design philosophy.
  • Architectural License preferred
  • 7+ years of architectural experience including affordable multi-family housing developments.
  • Project lead or significant role in mid/high-rise
  • Proficiency with zoning and building codes, review, variances and appeals, including but not limited to: City of Portland and other local municipal codes, OSSC, OFC, NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, etc.
  • Proficiency in creative physical and 3D modeling and rendering utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Sketch up and Spec Link
  • HUD Experience, NCARB, OMSC, FHA, CSI preferred
